Man... curse my luck

Postby Daret9056 » Sat Sep 22, 2012 2:23 am

Try to beat this unlucky scenario...

I'm in sector 8. I have a burst lazer mark 3 (the one that shoots five times) and TWO mark 2's (3 shots each) for a total of 11 shots every volley AND i have a weapon pre igniter so . I'm about to fight the flagship but I decide to stop at one more beacon to maybe get some more scrap for an engine upgrade... and I run into a rebel ship... no problem... just fire the lazers!

BAM BAM I suddenly have TWO boarding drones in my oxygen room. with TWO hull breaches in the room. and they very quickly destroy my oxygen module. I shoot for the drone control and take it out, and send my crew in to fix the oxygen room. but they decide to attack the disabled drones first..... slowly... suffocating...I send them to heal up and send in other crew to keep trying, they finally destroy the drones and then start repairing the breaches... they fix the breaches but they're suffocating so I send them to the med bay and bring in some more crew, my ship runs out of oxygen, and all my crew dies before I can repair the oxygen. The end.

I know that feeling. The lesson I've learned it not to be greedy. If you're in The Last Stand, you don't stop for anything. If it's close and you really need repairs, you can jump to a repair beacon, but otherwise tail the Flagship.

The lesson I learned is that the makers of this game didn't test it nearly enough before releasing it because they are greedy piglets
they then go on to have their bitchs tell us that these flaws are all features every moment their mouths aren't busy working on the devs

to these fanboys I say, "good work"

enjoy this lame space invaders rip off

Sometimes it can be the littlest of things that just gets out of control! Simultaneously frustrating and awesome.

Like this morning I died ridiculously early on (sector 3, maybe even 2) because of a chain of unfortunate events. A scuffle with some unimpressive alien in a nebula started a fire on my ship before I smashed them to bits. But of course, being a nebula, I couldn't see where it was. By the time I realise the seriousness of this fire, it is too late. I am faced with suffocation or send low-health crew to fix the O2. In doing so they burn in the fire.

Upon just getting the O2 back I am hit with a moment of sudden intelligence and I secure my last crew member in the Medbay before depressurising the rest of the ship. Hoping I got the last of it, I then proceeded to repair and repressurise, but I am now down to a single crewman. Boy, I said, I hope there's a store around here or something.

Alas, the next node had Pirates. With a teleporter. When several Mantis appeared on my dashboard, I knew the Serendipity had met its end.

The moral of this episode is... I hate nebulae.

Well this belongs in the Dumbest Moments in FTL thread, but it's about greed so i'll post it here.

I got greedy and decided to sell my Long Range Sensors. The ones that come gratis with the Stealth Cruiser. The ones worth 15 bucks..er scraps. Yea, i sold those.

Very next sector, THE very next friggen sector had meteors in it. And a Slug pirate, but nevermind him there were meteors! I have no shields on the Stealth Cruiser. And the Slugs had beams just to make my day so much more special. You can connect the dots from there.

Daret, that was heartbreaking. Two boarding drones to hit the O2 room is just evil, but then to have your guys beat up deactivated robots... wow. The game wanted you dead, no doubt about it.

FTL is evil. The devs are evil. The RNG is evil. You just have to hope that the RNG is forgiving enough to let you through that next nebula without running into a ship.

Wait, if you had two drones on the oxy room, why the hwell would you shoot down the enemy drone control? You first wait until at least one of them gets out of the room, heading to destroy something else!
