FTL Constant crashing

So just today i got ftl on steam and was excited to play it after having it on my Ipad for a few weeks and finding it really fun.
But there is a slight problem.
I load up the game and start a new game with the kestral as you must when you start.
the problem is that whenever i click on anything specifically on a ship, be it me trying to move a crewmember or trying to target my hermes on a system on the enemy ship, as soon as a click a ship the game just instant crashes to desktop.

Its soo weird i just dont understand it. it specifically only happens when clicking on a ship.
Please help somone!
