[Captain's Log 22.9.3250 1800 hours]
I was instructed to report at the Admiral's office by a engineer working on my cruiser, a standard Engi Cruiser-class, many say it looks like a pile of junk glued together, and I won't lie, it does, but i've heard incredible stories of how great captains have won against impossible odds with this ship, I wished to be one of them before, but with this rebellion...everything changed, I fear for myself, and the guilt I will feel if I can't keep my crew alive.
The Admiral was waiting for me impatiently when I arrived, "Captain Adrian" he said it in such a firm tone, it is engraved in my head, "Sir?" "No time for formalities, listen and do it closely, we have acquired special information of the rebel flagship, its weaknesses, and a possible super-weapon, as our only captain without a mission here, I entrust the mission of delivering this to the Federation fleet, some sectors away, there is no time to supply your ship with the best equipment, the rebels will be here soon, so make do with what you get until you deliver the message, once there, the commander will give you new orders, now go!" As I started to leave, he called out to me, "Oh, by the way, your crew will be 2 Engi volunteers, but they are a bit....peculiar.
I walked back to the hangar, I finally saw the name painted on the side of my ship, The HexTech, what a peculiar name, one of the engineers approached me. "Captain, I wanted to let you know what we have given to your ship, do you have the time?" I nodded, "Thank you, we have supplied you with 16 fuel, and 15 drone parts, no missiles, but don't worry, you won't be needing those as of now, we've installed an Ion Blast MK. II, and a Anti-Ship Drone MK. I, drone controls are already installed." I asked if there was anything else I needed to know, he said the last of the supplies were being brought on-board and my crew was waiting for me at the med-bay, which is connected to the bridge.
As I walked up the ramp, a supplier handed me a map of the ship layout "Sensors are being installed by engineers right now, so use this to familiarize yourself with the ship lay out for now. The layout was very solid, enough airlocks to control fires and enough room for other systems. as I walked to the med-bay I wondered what the Admiral meant by my crew being "peculiar", when I entered the med-bay, I saw two small, TINY Engis talking to each other, they barely passed my knees, I greeted them they asked me to ignore their stature, they were more than capable of what they do, as if they read my mind. One introduced himself as Ziggs, and claimed to be a weapons expert, the other was Heimerdinger, but he asked me to call him Heimy, he said he knew a lot about drones and repairs, but practiced the use of shields to compliment the ship. someone poked their head trough the med-bay door, "The ship is ready, all systems online, you are good to go!" At this I told the Engis to man their stations, as they walked through opposite doors, I entered the bridge, sat down on the chair and called trough the intercoms "All personnel, report", both responded affirmatively, "Good, commencing jump in three...two...one, I hit the button and everything blurred, we were off, and only fate new what awaited for us.
